(Baseball Heaven Pre Season Bash Tournament)

REDS 11U team finished a strong 2nd place with a record of 2-1.
We
started off slow with a 9-1 loss against the NE Firebirds but this one can be
attributed to very cold conditions and nerves; because we settled down late in
the game and played better on defense. This good play rolled over into our
second game where we beat the
Cumberland
cubs 3-2. Corbin Johnston gave us a solid pitching performance for 5
innings and then we brought in Cody “Papelbon” Foster to shut the cubs down
in the 6th. Although we were 1-1 our offense was still not
where we wanted it to be. But that all changed on Sunday against the
Nor’Easters where are bats came alive and we walked away with a 16-8 victory.
We took a commanding lead early when we jumped out to a 9-0 lead and never
stopped even when we let them back in the game. The kids came out hitting
again. This hitting barrage was led by Jimmy Greene’s three hits (two 2B
& 1B), Chris Vizzacco, Cody Foster, Corbin Johnston all had two hits. This
was a great team effort we put the ball in play and made them make some mistakes
and capitalized on that with a strong offensive attack.
